Hurricane Dorian intensifies as it heads for US

Hurricane Dorian – Advisory

The storm is expected to strengthen into a Category 4 hurricane before making landfall in Florida.

Hurricane Dorian is forecasted to affect all Florida ports on the Atlantic side. Our operational team is in constant touch with the US Coast Guard and leaders from the port, rail and trucking industry to ensure the latest updates.

Ports and vessels currently affected are:

FREEPORT, BAHAMAS
Terminal Ops Status: Open – but closing Friday, August 30 0200 hrs. 

MIAMI PORTS
Port Condition WHISKEY and we expect US Coast Guard to change to YANKEE at noon, Friday, August 29.

South Florida Container Terminal
Will close at noon, Friday, August 30 for vessel ops.

  • Truck gates:  Closed all day Friday, August 30 to prepare terminal.
  • Berth Ops Status: Open until noon.

POMTOC
Closing on Friday, August 30 to prepare for storm.  POMTOC’s gate will be CLOSED Friday, August 30 to prepare the terminal for Hurricane Dorian. The terminal will re-open next week once the storm has passed.

Regarding demurrage, containers that are currently in demurrage (or will be in demurrage at COB today) will remain in demurrage until the containers have been picked up.

PORT EVERGLADES
Port Condition WHISKEY – we expect US Coast Guard to advance to YANKEE at noon, Friday, August 30.

  • Terminal Ops Status: Open until Friday noon.
  • Marine Ops Status: Open until Friday noon.

JACKSONVILLE
Port Condition WHISKEY – still early to decide on port closure.

  • Terminal Ops Status: Open
  • Marine Ops Status: Open

TAMPA
Port Condition WHISKEY

  • Terminal Ops Status: Open
  • Marine Ops Status: Open
