Changes to China Customs Regulations Effective June 1, 2018

China Customs has released Order No. 56 [2017], effective 1 June 2018.

The regulation states that all shipments—whether loading, discharging, or transshipping—at Chinese ports are now required to have company codes as well as contact details for the Shipper and the Consignee. And, the company code format should adhere to (Type of the code)+(Code value). For example, ‘USCC+91510000445640333F’ or ‘VAT+FR 25497812348’.
Additionally, for imports to China, each consignee needs to be identified by its assigned USCC code.
Also, note that for “to order” shipments, the same information should be provided for both the Shipper and for the Notify Party.
It is Shipper’s responsibility to provide the requisite information to carriers.
